Colored Images: Documented Source Code

ColoredImages is an XCode project that demonstrates how to dynamically color a grayscale UIImage just using code (as described in iPhone: How to Dynamically Color a UIImage), and also includes a bit of basic animation. The source code is well-commented and compiles into an example app to help demonstrate what's going on.
