For the first big update after the launch of Patch Base 4, it's the E-mu Proteus 2000 Editor/Librarian! Also included in this update are many of the Proteus' siblings: Proteus 1000, Orbit-3, Virtuoso 2000, Mo'Phatt, Planet Earth, and Xtreme Lead-1. These are all available in the latest releases on both Mac and iPad.
Here's a quick run-through of the parts and features:
Voice (Preset) Editor
Like many other Patch Base editors, the Voice editor here not only gives access to all of the parameters on the synth, but it also offers those parameters in a couple of different views. There's a page for each of the 4 layers in a preset with all of their controls:
And then additionally there are Pitch, Filter, and Amp pages, which give you a more palette-style editor across sections of all 4 layers in the same page:
There's also a full-page view for the patch cords of each layer:
Arp Pattern Editor
Something I added that I'm not sure I've seen elsewhere is an editor for the Arp Patterns on the Proteus. You can create up to 32-step sequences, with each step having its own pitch, velocity, duration, and number of repeats. It's really a sequencer more than an arpeggiator!
Tuning Table Editor
Edit all 128 keys in a tuning table. There are also buttons to allow for copying and pasting octaves, as well as resetting an octave to equal temperment.
Preset Map and Setup Editors
These give you editing access for the Preset Map (mapping MIDI program change messages to preset selections on the unit) and Setup (all of the global device configuration, and the current Multisetup).
Bank Editors
And of course, this all comes with Patch Base's standard Bank Editors, so you can back up and manage all 4 user Preset Banks, as well as the Arp Pattern and Tuning Table Banks.
